VERTEX 60 is an untreated magnesium hydroxide product that provides excellent fire retarding and smoke suppression performance. At 330°C, it decomposes in an endothermic reaction to form water and magnesium. VERTEX 60 can be used to make fire-rated compounds in polymer systems such as PVC and polyolefins. It has a specific gravity of 2.36 and hardness of 2.5 on the Mohs scale. VERTEX 60 has a median particle size of 3.0 microns and specific surface area of 12.0 m2/g. It contains 99% magnesium hydroxide and has a loss on ignition of 31%. VERTEX 60 is suitable for applications that require fire retardancy and smoke suppression without compromising on other performance properties. Its endothermic decomposition helps provide protection from fire and smoke in various applications.
